The Citadel is a large public park, where anyone can walk freely.
Therefore, it can be visited anytime during the year at no cost.

However, the guided visits of underground passages, the access to the Visitor’s Centre and the tour in the tourist train have an entry fee.

Yes, booking in advance is strongly recommended.

 Click at the top right of this website (yellow tab «book your activity»).
Select the visit(s) of your choice, the date, timetables, language of the visit, number of people and categories (adults, children, seniors,…).
Should you have a voucher for a free visit, check a place at €0.

Within several seconds after you have made the online payment, you will receive an e-mail including your tickets.
You may print them out so that you can show them at the reception desk or you may just show your Smartphone upon your arrival.

If you had no opportunity to purchase tickets on this website, you can purchase them on site SUBJECT to availability.
The tourist reception office and the purchase of tickets are ensured by the Visitor’s Centre Terra Nova, Route Merveilleuse 64 - 5000 Namur (Citadel).

No, the Museum pass gives you access to the free visit of Terra Nova Visitor’s Centre.

The Citadel Pass allows one to take part in three activities (underground passages, Visitor’s Centre and tourist train).
It is not possible to book a Pass on this website.
However, you can book your guided tour of the underground passages at the desired time. You will buy tickets for the tourist train tour and the Visitor Center on site, specifying that you want a Citadelle Pass. Our reception staff will make you pay the difference in order to obtain the price of the Citadelle Pass. Thank you for your understanding.

You can pay in cash or by Bancontact, Mistercash, Visa, Maestro cards,… We do not accept holiday, sport and culture vouchers and other types of vouchers.

We cannot replace or reimburse the amount you paid for the tickets purchased in advance online.

You may purchase the seats for the cable car in one of the two railway stations (city centre Place Maurice Servais or on the Esplanade of the Citadel).
You can also get information with respect to the cable car and make an online booking on the cable car website.

Groups

As of at least 15 persons. The group bookings must be made by telephone or by email, at least two months in advance.

The three main visits (underground passages, Visitor’s Centre and tourist train) can be offered for groups of at least 15 persons.
Several « team buildings » activities specific to the groups are equally suggested (visits combined with tasting of beers or local wines, days combining visits meals, team games, etc.).

Several activities are possible for school groups subject to prior booking.

In practice

Yes, it is not forbidden to walk on the site with your dog on a leash.
However, dogs are not allowed during the guided tours of underground passages, in the Visitor’s Centre and in the tourist train.

You will find free access toilets within Terra Nova Visitor’s Centre.

In front of Guy Delforge perfumery, along the Route Merveilleuse, at Terra Nova Visitor’s Centre and on the Esplanade of the Citadel.

The address of Terra Nova Visitor’s Centre is Route Merveilleuse 64, 5000 Namur (Citadel).
By going up Route Merveilleuse (Meuse side, behind the Casino), you pass in front of Guy Delforge Perfumery. The Terra Nova Visitor’s Centre is situated 100 meters up on the right side (please enter below the porch).
For coaches, access is made via the Avenue Jean 1er. You can park on the Esplanade of the Citadel or in front of Guy Delforge perfumery workshop.

The three tourist activities can be done together with children (the guided tour of underground passages, the tour in the tourist train and Terra Nova Visitor’s Centre). An audio guide specially designed for kids is available as well as a commentary in the tourist train.
A play area can be found outside Terra Nova.
At the Thonard roundabout you can also discover the Queen Fabiola Theme Park.

It is not possible to follow the visit of the underground passages and to take the tour in the little train with a stroller. However, you can leave it safely with our hosts.

The Terra Nova Visitor Center is accessible with a stroller.

 

The Terra Nova Visitor’s Centre and the tourist train are also accessible for people with reduced mobility.
